Patrick Cox is a British-Canadian fashion designer best known for the Wannabe loafer, a shoe that became emblematic of London fashion in the 1990s.
Born in Canada and raised between North America, Africa and Europe, Patrick developed an early interest in design and craftsmanship. After moving to London in the 1980s, he became part of the city’s creative environment at a time when fashion, music and nightlife were closely intertwined.

During the mid-1990s he introduced what became his most widely recognised design — the Wannabe loafer. With its distinctive shape and metal detailing, the shoe quickly found an international audience and became one of the signature pieces of the Patrick Cox brand. Throughout that period the shoes were worn by musicians, artists and people connected to the cultural life of London.

The brand expanded internationally, with collections sold through boutiques and major retailers around the world. After many years working within the fashion industry and more than three decades living in London, Patrick decided to make a significant change in his life. He moved to Ibiza, drawn by the island’s landscape, creative community and slower pace of life. Living on the island opened the door to a different set of interests and ideas, particularly around symbolism, consciousness and personal transformation. These themes gradually became an influence on his creative work. Out of that period came Doors of Perception Ibiza, a clothing label inspired by those explorations. The brand combines fashion with symbolic imagery, drawing on motifs that reference awareness, curiosity and the search for meaning. Today Patrick continues to live and work in Ibiza, developing Doors of Perception Ibiza and approaching design in a way that reflects this new chapter of his life.
